Description PMCC Level 1 certification is a two-day class designed for the student ready to step beyond the basics. Each of the four projects in this class combines two or more metal clay construction techniques and challenges the student to create jewelry that is both aesthetically pleasing and functional. Students explore and demonstrate mastery of basic hollow forms; carving green ware; ring sizing and construction, setting faceted stones, controlled syringe drawing, and forming sheet clay, as well as incorporating functional elements such as bails and embedded wire. Projects are evaluated according to the care taken with design, joining, finishing, attention to detail, and the student’s understanding of the material covered in discussions. Completion of the class prepares the student for PMCC Certification Levels Two and Three and entities the student to a Certified Artisan discounts honored by most metal clay suppliers. Clay and tools are included in the class fee. While the instructor will have everything you need to complete the class, please feel free to bring any tools, texture, or supplies that you enjoy working with. August 11 & 12, 2012 Time: 9:30 AM -6:00 PM Cost : $375 + $50.00 Bench Fee Technique: Metal Clay using Precious Metal Clay Location: Janet's Studio Expand your knowledge further in this final PMCC Certification with Janet Alexander SR Instructor and Technical Adviser for the PMC Connection! PMC Connection Certification Level 3 is the most advanced certification class currently presented. This two day class builds upon the techniques presented in the earlier two levels to refine further the student's technical skills. There are two projects: a hinged and carved hollow box and a pendant with a large and unusually shaped stone. These projects involved the use of forms, dry construction, Keum Boo, jeweler's investment and molds. The fee includes the basic supplies needed for the two projects. You will need to provide the unusual stone, glass shard, or object for one of the projects. Contact Janet at least a week before the class with a photo of your unusual stone for approval. Please bring your basic metal clay working tools and any favorite textures, tools and unusual stone to set along with eye magnification! If desired, additional clay and supplies will be available for purchase. |
